Wrapping a great week at Mt Hood, Oregon for the Zigzag Old Time Music Campout. Led workshops on fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Jammed on plenty of D tunes from Pennsylvania, river soaks, and a whole lotta greenery. Thanks to the fine folks at Bubbaville for having me! PNW rocks!

Thanks to everyone who came out to my special candlelight concert at the old bath house ruins of Jacumba. Definitely the most magical, beautiful place I’ve ever played. You could see the stars and Milky Way overhead. And I was blessed to share the evening with family in from Kentucky. For me it was the perfect intertwining of music, people, place, and time. I’ll never forget it!

Very thankful for @jacumbahotspringshotel and @impossiblerailroadtradingpost who helped organize, for those who showed up and enjoyed the night with me, and those that shared these beautiful pictures with me. It’ll be hard to top this show, but I’ll try :)

Over the moon to share I’ll be performing at this year’s @bklynfolkfest . It really knocked my socks off to learn the headliner is Bonnie “Prince” Billy. This will be the second time I’ve gotten to see Will Oldham. I grew up an hour outside of Louisvillle, so that city was my cultural mecca, and Will Oldham was the town’s mysterious, revered cult music figure. I remember driving to ear-x-tacy one day and he crossed the street right in front of me while I was stopped at a red light at Bardstown & Grinstead. I nearly dropped my jr bacon cheeseburger. Thank you Brooklyn Folk Fest for giving me a second chance to see one of Kentucky’s finest. 😆

This is a clip from my 2021 album release show in LA (thanks for the shot @kelly_marie_martin!). The tune is "Old Virge" which comes from Bill Livers (1911-1988), a black fiddler that lived a few miles away from where I grew up in Northern Kentucky. The tune is named for, and passed down from Bill's grandfather Virgil, who was born into slavery.

Shot at my parent's barn in Carroll County, Kentucky with cameos from Gus and Drummer. In 1932 a band of musicians from Carroll County, led by fiddler Andy Palmer of Anderson County, recorded this tune for Gennett Records. My Dad knew their guitar player. That man passed before I could meet him, but I've gotten to meet and play music with his son, who also plays guitar and fiddle.
