Creative Catalyst

In 2015 I’ll be partnering with San Diego theater veterans Mike Sears and Lisa Berger, composing and performing a score for their original production, “When It Comes,” debuting at the Old Globe Theater in December. Mike and Lisa approached me about the project last summer when drafting a proposal for the prestigious Creative Catalyst Grant. I’m thrilled to announce they won support for their project. Also on board is the amazing puppetry group Animal Cracker Conspiracy. You can read about “When It Comes” as well as the projects of other Creative Catalyst winners in the San Diego Union Tribune

Opening for Michael Doucet

I’m so excited to have G Burns Jug Band open for Michael Doucet and his band Beausoleil when they come into San Diego for the annual Gator By the Bay festival. Back in the 70s, Doucet was awarded an NEA Apprentice grant which helped him study with some of the oldest living Cajun and Creole musicians of that time. Among those was Dennis McGee, a personal favorite whose repertoire preserved near-extinct styles of fiddling from the 19th century.
